About
Dr. Sheiner
Dr. Sheiner was born in 1951, and lived in New York City all his
life, until relocating to Connecticut in 1991. He attended Stuyvesant
High School, Columbia College, and New York University College of
Dentistry. While at Columbia, Dr. Sheiner played football and earned a
varsity letter in heavyweight crew. He married his college sweetheart,
in 1972.
During his three years at NYU College of Dentistry, Dr. Sheiner was
privileged to accept numerous awards and honors, for his high level of
scholarship. Among these are:

Class of 1971 Memorial Award (for attaining highest scholastic average
during freshman year)

The Alumni Prize (for attaining highest
scholastic average throughout attendance)

The National Alpha Omega
Fraternity Award (for attaining highest scholastic average throughout
attendance)

Also, in
1975, Dr. Sheiner
was elected to membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon (the dental
equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa.)
Dr. Sheiner completed a General Practice Residency at the Albert
Einstein College of Medicine/Bronx Municipal Hospital Center, in 1976.
He went on to a two year Residency in Prosthodontics at Memorial Sloan
Kettering Cancer Center, in New York City. He, then, completed a one
year Fellowship in Maxillofacial Prosthetics, also at Memorial Sloan
Kettering. From 1977-1979, Dr. Sheiner was a Clinical Fellow of the
American Cancer Society.
Dr. Sheiner is Board Certified in Prosthodontics* and has earned the
title of Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. He is a
Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontics, and has also been
awarded the prestigious FACD (Fellow of the American College of
Dentists.) He is a member of many organizations: The New York County
Dental Society, the Dental Society of the State of New York, the
American Dental Association, Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the American College
of Dentists, and the American College of Prosthodontists. He has
authored many articles for professional literature, and has also made
numerous presentations at regional, national, and international
meetings.
Dr. Sheiner is a Clinical Assistant Professor at The Mt. Sinai School of
Medicine, where he is also an Assistant Attending Dentist. For many
years Dr. Sheiner taught dental residents at Mt. Sinai, where he has
also been on the faculty for graduate courses and was Course Director
for Branemark Implant Certification courses.

certification, recognized by the ADA, ensures the requisite knowledge
and skill to provide high quality patient care.
